Ardent Acres chicken is artificial hormone free and antibiotic free, just like our beef.
The chickens at Ardent Acres are allowed outdoors during the day as the weather permits. At night, the chickens sleep in their coop.
A portion of the chickens diet is made up of fresh greens and other forage during the summer months. The remainder of their diet is made up of additive-free grain feed and whatever vegetables they steal from the garden. A diverse diet improves animal health as well as the taste and moisture retention of the meat.
Ardent Acres chicken is processed on-site according to Minnesota Department of Agriculture guidelines. Chickens are dispatched, processed, and froze within 30 minutes. Of crucial importance: Ardent Acres chicken is fresh water rinsed during processing. Unlike factory processors, we do not recycle our processing water. This helps us to produce a consistently clean product.
Ardent Acres chicken is packaged whole, shrink sealed, and frozen. No additional brine is added to the chicken so you're not paying for frozen, preservative laden water when you buy Ardent Acres chicken.

The white meat retains moisture better than typical commercial chicken.
Legs and wing drums are elongated compared to factory farmed poultry. This is a result of the chickens being allowed to run outside.
